Prednisone & Chronic Urticaria | Long-term or not?
Has anyone ever used an acronym, and you thought you knew what it meant, but you were surprised to find out it wasn’t quite the same?
For example, in pharmacy school, the professors spouted out TLAs all the time (TLA = Three Letter Acronym).
Most people whose diseases are shortened to just the first letters of the disease’s name often don’t know how to pronounce it, right?
Like my disease I took prednisone for is ITP.
Funny thing, is the translation of ITP into the actual words it stands for changed over the past decade!
It used to be this scientific mumbo-jumbo, “Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura.”
But now they changed the name to “Immune ThrombocytoPenia.”
Same acronym, but different words to get to ITP!
Does your condition have an acronym or abbreviation? If so, reply to me and let me know!
This week I had the chance to interview an expert in another part of the alphabet soup of prednisone diseases.
Meet Sarah, an expert on what used to be known as CIU!
In my interview with Sarah, we discuss things everyone should consider before taking prednisone long-term.
We focus on her condition, chronic urticaria, but the principles we discuss apply to everyone on prednisone:
– Whether or not to take prednisone
– What else you can do
– Plus how to support yourself in your chronic disease journey.
Watch now!
Curious about how to Counteract Prednisone Side Effects?
Check out this interview Sarah Lepsy did of me in which I share how I discovered that anyone can counteract prednisone side effects.
