Nutranize Zone with Tacrolimus?
Many people who get kidney transplants must take immunosuppressants like prednisone for life. At first they are thrilled that I created Nutranize Zone to help counteract prednisone side effects. However, many who have kidney transplants also must take another immunosuppressant called tacrolimus, also known as Prograf, Astagraf XL, or Envarsus XR. Tacrolimus is famous for potential drug interactions.
Don’t take Nutranize Zone with Tacrolimus; Take this Instead
I wouldn’t recommend Nutranize Zone if you’re taking tacrolimus as there may be a drug interaction. The levels of tacrolimus might change too much and not work to prevent your transplant from rejecting. We don’t want that.
Nutranize Zone Ingredients for Tacrolimus (Prograf) Patients
So instead, I recommend an alternative. Since I can’t give you the all-in-one solution that is Nutranize Zone, I’ve got a list of a few other supplements you can take instead. This should fit the bill for the vitamin and mineral supplement that you need while taking prednisone long-term.
I included a list of the most important ingredients to prioritize if the cost is an issue. The one thing to note about this list, is that many of the bottles contain more than one month supply, so it might put the price in perspective. Plus, I give you 10% off!
Tacrolimus can cause many drug interactions. Some are known, and some are unknown. Use of this protocol while on tacrolimus is not guaranteed to be perfectly safe. However, all ingredients were checked in the Natural Medicines Database and are shown to be free of drug interactions according to that database. Feel free to check with your doctor or transplant pharmacist to ensure these ingredients are safe for you, your kidney, your transplant, and your condition.
Since tacrolimus interacts with several ingredients in multivitamins, it is hard to combine ingredients. Most of the supplements I suggest are single-ingredient for that purpose. The main exception is the B Complex which contains multiple B vitamins in one capsule.
Replenish What Prednisone Steals with These Nutrients
The most important ingredients for Prednisone Warriors are in the following order:
- Chromium
- Calcium (but you need to be careful if you have certain kidney issues)
- (Vitamin D: may interact with tacrolimus; this is conflicting information)
- Magnesium
- Zinc
- Potassium
- B vitamins (B-complex)
- Cinnamon
- Vitamin A (some kidney diseases may have issues with this, so check with your doctor first)
- Vitamin C (ascorbic acid)
- Vitamin K (MK-7)
