How I Coped with Prednisone

How I Coped with Prednisone

Prednisone saves lives. It certainly saved mine! Prednisone is miraculous but having those side effects makes you question: is it worth it?

My Journey with Prednisone

I was hospitalized because I was about to bleed to death. And the only thing they could do was give me prednisone, super high doses tapered over and over for 9 months. Thankfully, it worked: my numbers went back up! I wasn’t bleeding anymore, but I felt miserable.

Not because of my condition, but because of prednisone side effects.

Prednisone did some serious things to my brain, to my face, to my belly, to my eyes–all over my whole body was affected.

Do you want to see a little picture I drew of myself?

This is me. That’s what I felt like. You can see many of my prednisone side effects…

  • Insomnia.
  • Emotional dysregulation.
  • My hair. Prednisone made me lose my hair!
  • I got hot flashes & red cheeks.
  • Moon face.
  • My heart beat like crazy.
  • My hands shook with tremors.
  • I would get my blood drawn and my white blood cells were really high.
  • I had to pee all the time.
  • My belly said, “Sugar, sugar, sugar! Salt, salt, salt! Eat. All. The. Time!”
  • My legs and arms got skinny.
  • I couldn’t see it or feel it but my bones were losing bone mass.
  • I got these weird bruises.
  • My knees got swollen.

So those things are why I felt miserable while on prednisone.

Trying to Find Ways to Cope with Prednisone Side Effects

I was trying to find anything. I googled “prednisone vitamin” or “prednisone dietary supplement,” or anything to help with prednisone.

Anything that would give back what I knew prednisone was stealing. I knew that prednisone was giving me all of those complications and potentially long-term issues.

Nutranize Zone for Prednisone

I thought, “I’ve got to do something. I know there’s got to be something that I can do.”

One day I was not taking a nap, (even though I hadn’t slept all night), I couldn’t sleep because prednisone wouldn’t let me. At that moment I had this thought, “people on prednisone need something for them.”

So I decided to make a solution. And that is why we have Nutranize® Zone™.

Nutranize Zone

Nutranize Zone is for people on prednisone. It’s for people who are struggling, who feel miserable while on prednisone.

  • Cravings: There are ingredients in there to help keep a stable blood sugar because prednisone causes high blood sugar. And that’s one of the reasons you get so many food cravings is because of crazy up and down of the blood sugars.
  • Sleep: Then there are ingredients in there to help have a restful night’s sleep. Because the #1 thing that people tweet who are on prednisone is about not sleeping at night.
  • Bones: Then it has calcium and vitamin DCalcium and vitamin D along with exercise have been shown to keep strong bones.

Not only that, Zone has been reformulated!

The New Formula

  • Vitamin K

I’ve added one new ingredient and it is vitamin K. Vitamin K is an essential vitamin hormone that your body uses to properly build bones for bone strength. And if we don’t have vitamin K, when we are taking calcium and vitamin D, then we can not quite build the right structure of bone. We don’t want bones that are fragile and are brittle.

We want bones that are flexible and can handle impact because the worst thing that can happen is a fracture, right? That’s the first thing is vitamin K2 helps with proper bone strength.

We all know as prednisone patients that the #1 long-term problem prednisone causes is osteoporosis.

Vitamin D for Osteoporosis-prednisone

Prednisone causes osteoporosis more than any other prescription drug does. It causes drug-induced osteoporosis. That’s why the doctors who prescribed prednisone the most suggest that everyone on prednisone take calcium and vitamin D. New research has shown you need vitamin K2 along with it.

And I didn’t just get any old vitamin K–I got vitamin K2, menaquinone-7 (MK-7). So it’s a specific formulation of vitamin K2.

Vitamin K2 MK-7

That includes the best way for your body to be able to use it. So you can have proper bone strength when you can take vitamin K2 in our brand new Nutranize Zone 2.0.

  • Magnesium Oxide

The second thing is I listened to you. Some of you had mentioned (a very small percentage), that when you took Nutranize Zone, the original, that it caused a little bit of stomach upset: maybe some diarrhea or nausea. And one of my very astute YouTube followers said that it was probably the magnesium oxide in there.

Upset Stomach

I realized that of course, that’s what it must be: the magnesium oxide. That’s one of the ingredients in over-the-counter medicines that help you when you have like constipation. The idea that the original Nutranize Zone can cause diarrhea makes sense. So what I did is I changed it and now instead of magnesium oxide, the reformulated Nutranize Zone 2.0 has magnesium glycinate. Magnesium glycinate is a way more expensive ingredient.

Magnesium glycinate

And it is super high quality because that glycinate is an amino acid that helps with having proper mood. It actually goes into your brain and helps you with calmness. And it helps you feel relaxed and it’s an essential amino acid that you need. This is awesome because we’re killing two birds with one stone: we’re getting our magnesium and we’re getting this calming glycinate.

  • Folate

The third new feature of Nutranize Zone 2.0 is that I changed the Folate. So Folate is what you normally have heard of it as folic acid. And it’s really important for proper cell metabolism.

Prednisone is totally messing with our cell metabolism, like breaking down cells and making new cells. That’s totally messed up when we’re on prednisone.

We need the folate to have proper cell growth and the kind of folate in Nutranize Zone originally was folic acid. What I’ve discovered since then is that there are certain people who can’t use it very well because of the genetics are there’s this fancy enzyme in our body called methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR).

It is what breaks down the folate. And if we don’t have it, then they call us poor metabolizers or poor methylators. And that means we’re not able to actually use the folic acid at all. Like our bodies are, it’s just going right through us. It we’re not actually using it properly. And so I gave the most bioavailable, most usable form of the methyl-tetrahydrofolate and it’s not just any old methyl-tetrahydrofolate it’s the L (as in Left)- methyltetrahydrofolate.

L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate

So this is the highest quality form of folate.

Highest Quality Ingredients

So not only do we have the highest quality form of magnesium now, we also have the highest quality form of folate.

We’ve always had the highest quality form of:

  • Chromium, which is my favorite ingredient in there: chromium picolinate.
  • Berberine, which is my second favorite ingredient.
  • Melatonin, I just love melatonin. It is so helpful because prednisone makes us feel wired and tired and unable to sleep, even though we’re so exhausted. And so you can get melatonin in there as well. It’s always been there and it’s only one milligram per capsule.

So get yourself some Nutranize Zone so that you can give back all that prednisone is stealing while you’re on prednisone.

You can find it at nutranize.com. Feel like yourself again by taking Nutranize Zone.
